Ok I want to know who wants to play in the big Neptune's Pride game I am setting up. For those who played the DTE Practice Game, this will be a much slower game which means you don't gain such big advantage from logging in several times a day. I still recommend being able to log in twice per day in general.

Depending on how many DTE we get I will try to get some people I've met in other games to join us. I find games that are less than 8 people are a bit unbalanced since alliances shift the power balance so much.

Please sign up with a reply in this thread along with any opinons you may have about game settings and/or other players joining.

I will, but i quiet liked the faster game play, it takes a long time to play slow game and chances are people will not play as much because it takes 10 years for anything to happen

My experience with the regular pace games is that the first couple of days are a little slow but pretty soon things start happening. The faster pace means anyone who takes the advantage early is much more likely to hold on to it until the end of the game. Also I have noticed that logging in at odd times to do fleet movements and being able to log on often becomes much more powerful in a fast game.

I'm in.

I'd like to play a bigger game with some more people. At times I liked the speed at which we played. But unless you check it like 5+ times a day you can miss things which need to be countered pretty much straight away to have a chance at surviving an attack. The game I played against randoms was slower, but because it was slower I actually forgot about it a lot of the time. I think though we got through quite well at the current speed, kept people interested so I vote we either use the same speed as the last game or one slightly slower (but above default)

I'm in favour of normal speed, simply because I can only check it between 5 and 10. It sorta works on my phone at work but not very well. Also the time we get paid is really annoying, should be about 6pm GMT for people who can't sit at a computer all day and night...

Well it should work from the iPad because all you need is a an internet browser? I suggest you join one of the free games so that you get a hang of it though, since everyone else that will be playing will know the game mechanics.

Regarding speed, the "regular" speed option is really the next step up. I put stars closer together this time, and I made income twice instead of once per day, and I made research faster. My plan for next game would be putting stars further away from each other, income once per day and research at normal speed. I can assure you that there will be things to do, plans to make and diplomacy all over the place once the first few days have passed and people are grabbing territory.

I'm only playing if the following values are true, otherwise remove me from the list:

Speed 1 turn per 24 hours
Payment between 6pm and 10pm gmt

This game doesn't have turns.

The factors you can control that affect game speed is how often you get paid, how fast research is, how high natural resources are, starting economy/ships/systems, cost of developing planets and how far stars are from each other.

The payment seems to be at the time of day when the game starts, so I guess we can try to control that by having the last person join in the afternoon.

My plan is to go for payment once per 24 hours, regular economy settings (slower research than our last game but that's the only difference) and star systems being further away from each other meaning you won't get surprised by ships coming to your planets in a matter of hours. In the regular game I play now no one can get into my core systems without flying for at least a day.

Yeah, 24 hours per production period is what I mean, otherwise It's not worth my while. I'm not trying to hold the game hostage, what I mean is if you decide to play with a faster game, don't leave a space for me as I can't commit to it rather than trying to get my own way I can take or leave the game.

I'm happy playing with 24hr paydays. With more people and a bigger universe it will even it out.

I can't change that, can only turn alliances on or off.

Updated list, 7 people so far. Hopefully we can get 1 or 2 more DTE in, and some of the people I invited from other games will want to join so that we get at least 10 players.

How about alliances folks? What I can do is simply turn them off, then all alliances will be diplomatic but you can't actually have peace. I don't see that they serve a huge purpose anyway since they cost money, are one-sided and are announced to everyone.

Yes, there is an option to go to war after an alliance. And regardless of alliances, only 1 player wins the game.
